Central Mongolia : Pictures in this gallery are of places and people encountered during our visit to the Erdene Zuu monastery, Karakhorum, the city of Tseterleg and Horgo Volcano in August 2008. Photos are presented in the order taken. All photos were taken using negative film and scanned on a Nikon scanner. This trip was organized and led by Nomadic Expeditions.  Larry Lenon (thoughtswhilethinking) > Mongolia 2008 In the center with the raised green roof is the chapel of the Dalai Lama Sum, built in 1675 to celebrate the visit by the Abtai Khaan's son, Altan, to the Dalai Lama in Tibet. This is one of the few original buildings of Erdene Zuu Monastery. Central Mongolia August 26
