Central Mongolia : Erdene Zuu monastery, Karakhorum, the city of Tseterleg and Horgo Volcano in August 2008. Photos are presented in the order taken.   • Mongolia 2008 With Erdene Zuu Monastery now in the background, here in the late 1220's, over 350 years before the monastery was constructed, once stood the capital of Chinggis Khaan's empire, Karakorum. The city was built by his son Ogedei Khaan after Chinggis died. Central Mongolia August 26
